James is a strategic partner for Capital D and part of the founding team. He brings extensive executive experience across multiple industries and is well known as a leader in the innovation and sustainability space. His bestselling book “Disrupt! 100 lessons in business innovation” published in 2017 informs the Capital D thesis that disruption is not only here to stay but is also a lever for value creation.

James supports the investment team in horizon scanning, thematic deep dives and ESG / sustainability strategy. He served on the board of Invincible Brands.

James is Chair of global innovation intelligence platform Springwise and next generation strategy consultancy Re_Set, both B Corps and members of 1% for the Planet. Prior roles include serving as CMO at Selfridges, CEO Anthropologie, Europe and Visit London.

James is committed to supporting business as a force for good and accelerating the energy transition.

Outside work he enjoys nature and outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
