Qmee is a leading digital market research technology provider and consumer survey respondent panel owner, providing its customers with programmatically sourced and fraud-screened survey responses. Powerful algorithmic and machine-learned platforms such as Qmee are driving a wholesale disruption of the consumer insights and market research industry through all levels of the value chain. Qmee operates globally, generating revenues across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Why we invested:  We saw in Qmee an exceptionally disruptive business with very attractive fundamentals in a large and growing market. We got to know the founders and senior team and became convinced we would work well with them, knowing we could provide meaningful support with the delivery of a clear value creation agenda.

Our value-add:  In our short investment period we actively supported the founders across three transformational initiatives. We prioritised expanding the leadership team to create a scale-ready structure, hiring the first CFO and CCO, and introducing a veteran US-based non-executive chair, Mike Baker. We drove the internationalisation of Qmee’s member panels beyond the English-speaking world, delivering localised French and German apps to access those important markets. Finally we used our network to assist Qmee with opening and exploring direct client relationships with major market research companies around the world, including Kantar, IPSOS and others, rather than working via wholesale sample exchanges.

What was the outcome:  The process of opening direct relationships with the major market research players raised their awareness of Qmee and the power of its technology. This resulted in an inbound expression of interest, following which we ran a narrow trade-only process which led to the successful exit to a strategic buyer in June 2022.
